Rescue 532 Runs a Working House Fire in Dumfries
Sun. Aug 16th 2009

Around 0620hrs , tones were dropped for a possible structure fire near Jefferson Davis Highway and Bradys Hill Rd. As Engine 503 turned left out of the station they could see smoke banking across Jefferson Davis Highway. They arrived on scene and reported the working fire and with the help of an off-duty PWCDFR Firefighter a supply line was stretched about 200 feet south of the Triangle Street intersection. Meanwhile, the crew stretched a pre-connect to Side A. AC 503 had arrived on scene and established Command. After a quick face to face with the Engine Lt. the line was moved to Side Charlie to knock down fire on both Floor 1 and 2. Command also updated the size up and advised that units would be using an exterior attack as the house was vacant. Engine 512 arrived to pick up the water supply and pull a back up line. Engine 517 arrived and assumed the RIT and assisted in getting ladders thrown to 3 sides. Engine 510 assisted Engine 503 with opening up the rest of the building. With the bulk of the fire knocked down, units relocated their line to Side A and moved into the interior to extinguish any remaining pockets of fire on the inside. Rescue 532 completed searches on all three levels with negative results and then assisted with opening up. Small pockets of fire had been located and extinguished on both Floor 1 and 2.  Smoke conditions on the interior had lifted and the fire was deemed under control. Units took a breather as the Fire Marshal had arrived and begun his investigation. Command was turned over to BC507F(Frezza) and crews continued the mop up. Rescue 532 cleared around 0815 hrs.
